21 Day Fix – Day 13

I’m going to be a weekend warrior. Who’s coming with me?!

 

I feel like I can’t ever sleep in on the weekends unless I’m camping when I should be waking up early to sieze the day and natural wonders whichever park we are exploring. That’s not the case though as I woke up at 7:30 this morning. I really woke up before that but I closed my eyes in hopes I would fall back asleep. I just lay there and then a thought came to me. “Crap, I didn’t post my blog from yesterday!!!”…
So up I got, coffee on the burner & breakfast made, blog complete. 

There’s so much I wanted to get done today but I prioritized my workout so I could get it over with and focus on everything else like laundry and grocery shopping. Yes, I could use the hashtag #adulting, but that’s just silly and overused. I’d rather just call myself a #maturemaiden because I’m so responsible!

The Workout:

Dirty 30 – People usually love this workout and I like it just fine. I think I would love any workout afte cardio fix though. I’m using the 10lb weights and it feels good. 

Today’s Eats:

Breakfast

(1/2 green, 1 red, 1/2 blue, 1 tsp) 

  • Scrambled eggs with shredded cheddar
  • Broccoli & mushrooms in coconut oil 

+ a cup of coffee which I only drank half of. I don’t know what the deal with coffee and me is. I can’t drink a full cup in the morning, but that’s a good thing I suppose. Maybe I’ll have an iced coffee later for a little pick me up.

Lunch:

(1 yellow, 1 red)

  • Canned tuna
  • Black beans
  • Hot sauce

Right now I’m folding my second load of laundry and watching Jane the Virgin on Netflix. She’s planning a wedding and this wedding cake is really having an effect on me…mmmm tuna…

Snack:

(1 purple, 1 green)

  • Strawberry and spinach smoothie

That was the last thing I remember. I blacked out on the rest of the day…

Just kidding. So I went to a graduation party and there was a table of food. I could have made all great choices and I didn’t. I started off with a chicken wing and a glass of wine. Next thing I know there is a jello shot and a cracker with brown sugar and bacon in my hand. I thought, “Hey, it’s a celebration and my taste buds want to party!” Well party they did. Compared to yesterday this was definitely a cheat evening. System shocked. My tennis date just got cancelled for Sunday so I’ll fit in an extra workout somewhere in there…

It’s not the end of the world. Sometimes you’re going to eat things that aren’t the best for your body, and that’s fine. You’re creating a healthy lifestyle by eating right and exercising most of the time. If you’re doing the 21 day fix and you’re seeing results, those aren’t going to go away with a couple of slips. The only way they change is if you slip and fall and don’t get back up. It’s up to you to shake it off and get back to your routine. I used to beat myself up if I made unhealthy choices and now I shrug it off and move on. That’s what we should do with anything ugly that we cross on our paths. Shrug them off and move on. It does nothing for our well being to focus on negative energies. It’s up to us to turn the negative into a positive. So on Sunday I’m going to be proud of myself for kickstarting another healthy week. Let the meal prep begin!

21 Day Fix – Day 9

Today I’m sleepy and I could have gone back to bed for the rest of the day. Even though I’m sleepy I still have energy. My body isn’t tired, my brain is wide awake, but my attitude is just a little sleepy. I’m an introvert that pretends to be an extrovert. I could go days without any social interaction and be okay with it. Since I’m striving to be a professional in the acting world and have another job that puts me in front of so many people each day, you might find this fascinating or just plain wierd. It is kind of wierd! My thoughts provide more entertainment for me than any other human could. If you could steal my head for just a moment, you’d be flabbergasted (such a great word).

Well enough on that, I don’t want to share too much. This is about the 21 fix anyway isn’t it. That’s not a question.

So i got breakfast ready this morning, put on my face because I wanted to look cute today. Not for any particular reason. Sometimes if you actually try to look decent it just makes you feel more decent. I put on my new $30 dress which I got from 4c (which was also marked down from $300 – I only bargain shop these days, but when I do it, I do it right). I got in my car. I drove to St. Augustine. I was early for my appointment. Whoop Whoop! I’m never very early, I usually make it right on time though.

I then realized that I forgot to pack a lunch or snack and I forgot my lemon water…shitake! I worked everything out though. Take a look.

The Workout:

Upper Fix was great today. I think out of everything Push-ups are still the hardest for me. They are the only exercise that I have to move to the modification for. On the first set I started out with 8 and then had to move to my knees to make sure my form was correct. On the second set I did about 5 and then moved to knees. Otherwise, I stuck with 8 lbs the entire time and didn’t struggle on many of the moves, so again, I need to increase.

After my workout tonight my friend Natalie and I went on a nice walk with her baby who is just the cutest. He slept most of the walk while she and I caught up. It’s been beautiful weather, so this was a great way to end the day and burn some extra calories! This was a case of much needed social interaction. Maybe I’ll explain it to you one day.

Today’s Eats:

Breakfast:

(1.5 red, 1/2 green, 1/2 blue)

  • Broccoli & Onion fritata with shredded Gouda

I love when I start my day off with a great breakfast. Fritata’s are so easy to make and look super gourmet and stylish, so you feel extra fancy when you eat them on a paper plate (for some reason I always use paper in the mornings..oh I know the reason it’s because our dishwasher needs a 21 day fix and I hate handwashing).

Snack:

(1/2 blue, 2 purple)

  • 6 almonds
  • 1 banana

Thank Goodness I didn’t have any fruit this morning or I don’t know what I would have done and thank God I had gotten a little bag of almonds to put in purse just in case this sort of thing happened. I was in St.Augustine meeting with customers and all of a sudden I got sooo hungry. I looked at my phone and saw that it was already almost 3pm. No wonder. I knew just where a Starbucks was and I was dying of thirst, so I stopped and got an iced unsweetened green tea to have with my 6 lonely almonds. When I got up to the window there were bananas just sitting on a tray with a sign that said “eat me”. No, I’m sorry the sign said, “only $1” and I was like, “You may be worth a dollar to someone, but you’re priceless to me.” I asked the kind barista if she would add a banana to my order and she complied.

Score.

Lunch:

(1 red, 1 green)

  • 1 can of tuna
  • Green Goblin juice

As you can imagine I had a really late lunch, but I didn’t want to wait all the way until dinner because we usually don’t eat until about 7 or 8. I got home and grabbed a can of tuna, added some hot sauce and ate it while I made a green juice (celery, kale, lemon, & ginger). I’m not totally sure what a serving size of juice would be, but from most of the research I’ve done I’ve learned that it should count as one serving of veggies a day. I made 10 oz worth.

Dinner:

(1 red, 1 yellow, 1 tsp, 1 green)

  • Chicken fajita salad

After I got back from my workout I got a little more work done and cut up chicken and veggies for fajitas. Then, I ran the bath, lit a candle, and relaxed! I picked up some bubble bath from Old City Bathecary in St. Augustine and pampered myself for a bit. They have some of the best products. Click here and you can see for yourself! Once I was shriveled up I got up and out and heated up a pan with coconut oil. Minutes later dinner was ready. No tortillas for me, just some Protein and veggies over romaine lettuce with black beans.

While I was washing dishes I was thinking about something sweet. I had a tsp of crunchy almond butter and it did the trick. It’s hardly sweet, but tastes like a treat!
