Showing Off on Social

My life looks like pure magic lately! It looks like everything is so fabulous lately, and really when I look at the big picture I hate to say it, because I don’t want to make you jealous, but it really is!!  I mean, I get to do soooo many fun things!!!

With that said, I have had some really bad days recently.

We were in a car crash on Easter and have been down to one car for about two weeks now because of several things going on with the insurance and the multiple vehicles involved. No, it wasn’t even our fault!

I am constantly playing catch up with work and I feel like I will never be completely caught up but am doing the best I can. To top that off, my laptop (which I just payed off after 2 years) just crashed. It has my entire life on it I feel like and doesn’t help work a bit. After compiling document after document to become more organized with work, I have no access.

As soon as I think I have it all kind of together my daughter gets sick. Do you know that a 10 month old sick baby girl needs more attention than a fine dining restaurant ridden with rodents? Well, now you do.

My debit card fell into the river after I bolted out of the car to check on my daughter after the crash. We all know how it feels when we have to change cards. You have to connect the dots and figure out everyone who deducts a payment for a bill. Sometimes it’s seriously a mystery and then you get a phone call or an email and ding ding ding, lights on!

Wait, so why do I think my life is so fabulous? Because it is!!! It took me a lot of time, grief, and growing up to realize it. My life is completely unreal and perfectly imperfect. Sometimes something hits me in the face and I impulsively want to scream out, but I make sure to become aware of my emotion and raise my gratitude towards God for my beautiful life. I have the most amazing husband who loves me to no end. I have a beautiful step-daughter who is probably one of the most grown up teenagers I’ve ever met and much much smarter than me. I have a baby girl that is incredible and lights up my life every day. Plus, the amazing family and friends that are near and far away bring so much positivity to my life. That, is what life is all about. The small things are pretty stupid in the grand scheme. It’s time to dumb the dumb things down.

Every time I look out at a crowd I think, “Wow.” Every one of us thinks we’re so important and we each have things and emotions and needs that we think are so important as well. Sometimes, you just have to step back and look at the big picture.

I notice that when I do, I’m nurtured with blessings that I didn’t even know were going to exist. Some of those blessings I share on social and some of them I keep for myself. Xo Julie Ann

NO DAY BUT TODAY

Yes, the title of this post is taken from a song in one of my favorite musicals RENT! RENT deals with a group of people, who despite their circumstances, rise above so much and realize that every moment counts. It’s about love and loss, moving on and finding out that in order to improve your circumstances you have to adapt to change and fight for what’s right, for those you love, and for yourself.

So much of our fight is inner dialogue that other can’t see on the outside. Lately I’ve been so overwhelmed because I have so much to do. Instead of picking a task and conquering it, I wallow in my own thoughts and get upset because I don’t know what the first step is in tackling a job or making one thing a priority over any other. I mean, I still have my Christmas Tree up and it’s February. I go from “well, ugh-maybe I should just leave it up for the rest of the year,” and all of these other passive aggressive inner thoughts when in reality I just need to stop what I am doing and start removing ornaments!

Last year a friend recommended a time scheduling app called Be Focused. I downloaded it onto my computer and it was a game changer. I used it religiously for a while and then started to get the hang of the timing on my own (or so I thought) so eventually stopped. Well, one tiny little break led to multiple unscheduled breaks and I completely lost my FOCUS! I’ve decided that I better get back on track and start using the app again because I know that it helps me to concentrate on one task at a time. Check it out if you are constantly checking social media at work (unless that is your work), taking a break to play candy crush, or just zoning out!

I find that routine truly helps my stress level and my productivity. I normally navigate through my week trying to multitask. Getting everything done that I need to get done seems nearly impossible. Since I work from home and mostly from my car, I have to adapt to change pretty much daily. I work by appointment so normally I know when I’ll have a break, but I have to be very conscious of what I do during that break so I don’t waste valuable time. I understand, now more than ever, that time is so important because the seconds go by so fast. I was always taught to anticipate other’s needs. Well sister, I have to start anticipating my own needs in order to keep a positive outlook and not become overwhelmed.

This weekend, my plan is to enjoy the time I have with my family, but I am also going to remove some of the chaos from my life by trying to map out a routine for my week to come.

Today, I am taking down the damn Christmas tree!

Being overwhelmed and stressed isn’t good for me, but it isn’t good for anyone around me either. A healthy lifestyle isn’t just about eating healthy foods and being active, it’s mostly about being happy (which those things definitely help in the happy department). I have to remind myself that in the grand scheme of things, everything we worry about is so very minute. So if you feel like your life is a shitshow, OWN it or take the steps to IMPROVE it. I think I’ll do both!

17 weeks old – Flashback

I wrote this a long time ago thinking that I’d have so much time to start blogging again. It’s nice to see where we were in comparison to where we are!

[Fade to Flashback]

I’m on a plane right now and am going to try to make the most of my time. It’s not very often that I get an hour or two of complete quiet. There’s no baby to answer to, no work email or calls to respond to (because I’m not paying for WiFi), no appointments to drive to, and no clothes to try to remember to throw into the dryer.

If you don’t follow me on Instagram then you probably don’t know that I had a baby 17 weeks ago. That’s a little over four months for you people that don’t already have children or don’t do math. Seventeen weeks ago my whole world changed. Everyone always said that you don’t completely understand what love is until you have a baby. Truth is, I always understood it, I just wasn’t ready for it. I still don’t know if I’m ready for it. I look at my baby girl and wonder how in the world I am lucky enough to be her mother for the rest of…forever. Some people say that the love you have for your child is greater than any other kind of love. I disagree, it’s just a different kind of love which I’ve wanted to experience since I was a little girl. Having a baby gives you a little glimpse into the way that God feels about each and every one of us.

It’s a love I know I’m ready for because it’s a love that’s changed me for good. I never knew how strong I was until I had a baby. I have a whole new respect for motherhood and my own mother.

And yes, sometimes I don’t know if I’m ready it. I never knew how weak I was until I had a baby. Hearing her cry makes me cry. When she hurts, I hurt. However even through that weakness there is strength because I have to be strong for her.

Four months in and I’ve learned that:

◦ Sleep is a necessity, but only in 10-60 minute increments.

◦ Giving birth is exactly like it is in the movies, but with more tears, convulsing, and shaking.

◦ I will always need my mother.

◦ My husband has seen me at my worst and still adores me. 👏👏👏😍

◦ Part of me is living outside of me. She is an extension of me that I need to nourish just like I nourish my own body and self.

◦ The laundry will never be done and the house will never be clean.

◦ I have the best family and in-laws EVER.

◦ No diaper is too scary.

◦ Breast milk is a precious thing (I learned this the very first time I spilled it after pumping).

◦ No noise is too small to wake me when I’m finally asleep.

◦ I am needed and loved and have a purpose.

This journey has already been wonderful and as they say, the moments go by so fast. I am enjoying every one of them. This past week my daughter has been up at all hours, and every time I pick her up to console her I truly thank God that she is breathing and that I am here for her no matter how tired I am. Some babies aren’t as lucky which is hard for me to even grasp. I’ve never been so grateful.

Cosette Isabela Maszy was born on June 8th of 2018. She weighed in at 4 pounds, 14 ounces! She was two weeks early (full term) but just on the tiny side. She has since tripled her weight and is thriving and beautiful.

As you can probably already tell, FitFabDelish will have a new category because my world now revolves around it. More to come in MomSoHard- reviews, things I’m learning along the way, and maybe some love notes that she can look back on. Haha, we’ll see where it takes me!

You can follow Cosette (or Coco as we like to call her) on Instagram @cosetteisabela .

She’s already a bit of an influencer!

Stay tuned as I definitely always have material now!

Soap Suds

It seems like bar soap has been on an upward trend. A lot of us ladies like our loofahs drenched in body washes, but most of us learned to bathe with bar soaps. Let’s face it, most bar soaps that you get from your local grocers or convenient stores dry out your skin and the ingredients aren’t that great for you either. Body washes seem like a better option because they don’t fall to the bathtub floor quite as easily and marketers make the packaging oh so pretty! Plus it’s easier to empty out those suds on our exfoliating poufs…

Which leads me to this…

Independent soap makers have it figured out and I’m going to share my top bars with you. If you want to suds up with nature’s ingredients while keeping your skin silky smooth and soft, then this is the way to go. I have no problem layering up my pouf with these luxuriously lathering bars either.

Below are five of my favorites!

Hand In Hand

Clean Water Collection

Not only do they have great bar soaps, they are a company that gives back in more ways than one. First they make your skin feel lovely, but not only your skin, they nourish other people’s skin too!! They have two collections: The Clean Water Collection and the Espere Collection. For every product they sell in the Clean Water Collection, they donate a bar of soap and provide a month of clean water to a child in need.

For every product purchased in the Espere collection, they provide small business loans to entrepreneurs in underdeveloped countries so they can create jobs and provide sustainable incomes for families in their communities.

There are several different scents within the clean water collection which is where you’ll find the bar soaps. The newest scent is coral which is what I’ll show you in my vlog!

Free Reign Farm

I am in love with this line and so is my man! Free Reign Farm is based in the Appalachian mountains of Tennessee and they have a goat farm. That’s right, this soap is handmade from goats milk and essential oils. It is super duper moisturizing and currently our go-to bar soap. This a great all natural alternative for skin that needs nourishment without additives. My personal favorite bar is the oatmeal and honeysuckle. My nose can’t  get enough of it and neither can my skin!

All of our goat milk soaps are made with the maximum amount of farm fresh goat milk per bar (36%), natural colors (herbs & clays), pure essential oils, non-GMO oils, and a true 1800’s base recipe…These goat milk soaps are great for sensitive and dry skin, better lather, longer lasting, and much more moisturizing.”

As a side note, one of the boutiques that carries this soap also carries their deodorant and the owner says its the best natural deodorant she has tried to date! If you’re looking for something supernatural..oh wait, super natural…you’ll want to dive in to this brand and try all of their products!

Soap & Paper Factory
This line is just absolutely aesthetically beautiful!

Mission Grove Collection

Ahh, of course the packaging is pretty, but it’s what’s on the inside that counts! The girls at Soap & Paper factory are just like the brand they’ve crafted, beautiful on the inside and out. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know them and they are down to earth, warm loving souls, who create beauty wherever they go because of who they are (plus they are fun to drink tequila with). They are like the female soap making versions of Anthony Bourdain. Does that make sense to anyone but me? If not, it’s a compliment!

They are soaked up in the craftsmanship and deliver perfection. This unicorn brand (that was supposed to say unique, but unicorn works too) is the definition of quality and you can tell how much thought, creativity, passion and hard work goes into its creation. There are several collections in this line, so it should pretty much please anyone and everyone!

Farmacie Collection

My personal collection favorites are the new Mission Grove collection (which you may have also seen a picture of on my Instagram account) and the Farmacie collection. All these natural handmade soaps are made with Shea butter, essential oils, and love! You must check out their website so you can find a retailer near you!

Oh! And don’t  forget about their holiday collection (yes I started my sentence with “And” and you can get over it)! Some people like to burn this year round (and when I talk about some people I’m talking about me and everyone else that’s ever had the pleasure of smelling this).

A MUST for thr holidays

Roland Pine Collection

Pacifica

pacifica imagesWhile Pacifica make-up has been on an upward trend, let’s hope they hang on to some of the products they started with. Pacifica is an awesome cruelty-free line and one that can be safely used and worn by everyone because if it’s 100% vegan ingredients. I do wear their make-up, but we’ll talk about that on a different day! Their soaps are magnificent, which is a word I rarely use, but they so deserve it. The scents are fresh and each soap is infused with fresh ingredients and ground almond meal which is ideal for exfoliating without being too rough. Personally, my favorite soap is the Tuscon Blood Orange bar. This is one of the top scents in their line in all segments including candles and perfume.tuscan_blood_orange_natural_soapTokyo Milk
TOKYO MILK HEADER
This is yet another line with beautiful packaging, but once again it’s what’s inside that counts. Tokyo milk has delicious scents, creamy lathering capabilities, and are triple milled like many of these other brands. Triple milled means that the soaps are processed through the milling machine at least three times to push out any excess air and water making them more concentrated and long lasting. The Tokyo Milk bars are full of moisturizing Shea butter!

Here is another lesson for you since I’ve mentioned Shea butter before (and wanted to learn myself). Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the African Shea Tree. It’s usually off white or ivory colored and is actually edible!! This doesn’t mean you should eat your soap, but when your mom says she’s going to wash your mouth out with it, don’t be nervous!

Tokyo Milk is a Margot Elena brand that has been around for quite some time. All of her brands are high quality, well constructed, and have a focus on fragrance. With each soap there are top and bottom fragrance notes. One of my favorite scents is the Tour Eiffel which has Linden, Honeyed Rose, Wisteria Petals, and White Musk (I love white musk!). You can see the image below.

TokyoMilk-soap-Tour-Eiffel

Tokyo Milk also has mini soaps, as seen below. These are so delightful, because any baby version of a product always is! They are made the same way and give you the ability to try out several different scents or give to someone else as a gift.

Thanks for checking out these bars and my thoughts on them. Whichever one you choose for shower time, your skin will be grateful to be fed with such  nourishment. Happy shopping! Let me know if you try any of these out and what your thoughts are! Also, many of these brands may be in a local boutique near you. Always support your local business and shop small!

How to find your brand

As an actress, more than half of the job has to do with business and not talent. Lately I’ve been learning how to manage my business and market my brand. When I started thinking more and more about this, I decided that I would start incorporating my new practices into FitFabDelish. I have a day job and I manage that business just fine. I have built relationships and I work with some of the same customers over and over again while gaining new customers. There is no difference between that business and my independent businesses.

I created fitfabdelish for three reasons, all of which are in the name.

  • Fitness & Health
  • Fashion & Cool Products
  • Food & Drink

These three things are all things that I care about and have ALWAYS cared about! However, the true core of these three things is taking care of yourself in order to be a happier, healthier you. That’s my essence, not the three categories that I focus on. To create your blog and create your brand, you have to find something that you are passionate about and that you have fun talking about all of the time. Find something that’s FUN for you and you’ll find your niche. Fashion is huge right now, but if you enjoy reading books and going to cool local bookshops and coffee shops on the weekend instead of window shopping and retail, then fashion isn’t for you. It will get old and become hard to come up with content. The other part is all about figuring out your WHY. WHY do you want to teach people about these bookstores or introduce them to the new novels your reading. WHY do you want others to know about this unique lifestyle that you lead?

What is your essence?

What makes you YOU? Why are you unique? Essence isn’t your experiences, it’s more about your expression or how you handle your experiences.

Have you ever asked a stranger what their first impression is of you? People still judge books by their cover, which means they are judging you that way too. We judge each other by what we’re wearing, whether we’re smiling or not, whether we pull out a fancy wallet from our bag at the grocery store, or whether we have a funky paper change purse to hold all of our valuables. People judge us by how we respond when someone asks, “How are you?” People also judge us  when we walk in front of another’s moving car in the parking lot. Do you wave to say thank you, or in apology? Do you walk with conviction and authority or move in embarrassed haste? There are so many questions.

Have you ever ran into someone that tells you what color your aura is? I’ve had three different people tell me that I have a blue aura and I really don’t know what that means, but I know they tell me that because they noticed something about me right away. That was them noticing my essence right off that bat.

Finding your brand has everything to do with finding your true essence. Find your passion and make it work for you. We all have something unique about ourselves. You may not even have a clue as to what it is. Ask ten people what they find special about you and I’ll bet you’ll get a similar answer most of the time. Take those special things and use them. It’s much easier to work with what we already have at hand, than trying to reinvent ourselves with what we think othwers will deem cool.

You are your brand. Embrace it and the rest will come!

21 Day Fix – Day 14

I had a busy day, too busy for a Sunday if you ask me. I wanted to watch Hulu all day. I have some major guilty pleasures on there that I won’t speak of. They might ruin my reputation of being kind of cool. I had an audition that I needed to put on tape so my friend Chris helped me out, then after several takes I got it to my liking and drove to the grocery store. I loaded up on produce and meat, came home, unloaded, and began my meal prep. This week is going to be a little tricky because I won’t be home Wednesday through Friday. I’m working the outskirts of my territory so am overnighting it. I plan to take a cooler for breakfasts, snacks, and lunch at least.

Today I made paleo egg muffins. I’ve made them before following a recipe and they are super easy so I just kind of winged it this time. My recipe:

  • 10 eggs
  • 1/4 C Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 10 asparagus spears
  • 4 mushrooms
  • 1/2 Red Onion
  • 2 Sweet peppers

Preheat oven to 350. Chop all vegetables and sauté in coconut oil. Whisk eggs and almond milk together. Once veggies are done to your liking separate them into your muffin pan. Pour egg mixture on top of veggies and bake for approximately 20 minutes. Yields 12 muffins, 6 servings.

For 21 day fix servings: 1 red, 1/3 green

I also made my green juice for three days. You really don’t want to make too much of this ahead. Make sure that if you do store your juice, store it in an air tight container.

  • 2 lemons peeled
  • 1 1/2 celery stalks
  • 1 bunch of Kale
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 inch size piece of ginger
  • 8 strawberries

Yield 3 10 oz servings. I count each serving as 1 green, 1/3 purple.

Next I prepped my butternut squash fries. Now I seriously hate making this but I love the way they taste. I think this counts as a workout. I have the recipe posted on one of my blogs from several days ago, but you can find them on Pinterest too. Just make sure to sub any ingredients that you shouldn’t have. I seasoned mine with Himalayan sea salt, garlic powder, pepper, and paprika and have them in a gallon ziplock bag in my fridge. You might want to wait on the garlic powder because every time I open the fridge I get punched in the face with the smell of garlic. I have a black eye.

Right now I also have a whole chicken defrosting on the counter. First thing in the morning I’m putting that baby in the crockpot so dinner will be done without me having to tend to it. I also have some zuchinni and squash ready to go in the oven as a side. Tomorrow’s not even here and it’s done. Yayo!

There is also a chicken and cabbage recipe that I didn’t have time to make but it’s super quick and easy. I’ll be making that very early tomorrow morning before work gets started for my lunches. I should have made it today but I still had to get my workout in. Speaking of…

The Workout

Yoga Fix – I definitely wanted to do yoga today but I felt like doing something a little extra. I needed a little push after my cheat evening on Saturday. Although I was busy all day today I wanted to sweat a little more. Before yoga I did four rounds of this to get my heart rate up and burn some extra calories…

I found it on pinterst and thought it was the perfect little push, without going all out, that I needed for today. Afterwards, yoga felt great. Every time I feel stronger and better about my alignment in the poses. It’s funny when you think you’re doing it right, make an adjustment, and then realize you’re doing it right.

Today’s Eats

Breakfast:

(1 red, 1/2 green)

  • Veggie fritata. No cheese!

Lunch:

(2 red)

  • Leftover turkey meatloaf

Snack

(1 green, 1/3 purple)

  • Green juice

Dinner:

(1 red, 1 green)

  • Grilled chicken breast
  • Slaw without mayo

Everything I do is without mayo. I can’t stand it. That and snakes are my worst fear. If I were ever to experience hell, it will be snakes swimming around in mayo. Ugh. That’s awful imagery. I’m sorry.

I hope you enjoyed your Sunday! Get ready for the last day of 21 Day Fix!!

21 Day Fix – Day 13

I’m going to be a weekend warrior. Who’s coming with me?!

I feel like I can’t ever sleep in on the weekends unless I’m camping when I should be waking up early to sieze the day and natural wonders whichever park we are exploring. That’s not the case though as I woke up at 7:30 this morning. I really woke up before that but I closed my eyes in hopes I would fall back asleep. I just lay there and then a thought came to me. “Crap, I didn’t post my blog from yesterday!!!”…
So up I got, coffee on the burner & breakfast made, blog complete.

There’s so much I wanted to get done today but I prioritized my workout so I could get it over with and focus on everything else like laundry and grocery shopping. Yes, I could use the hashtag #adulting, but that’s just silly and overused. I’d rather just call myself a #maturemaiden because I’m so responsible!

The Workout:

Dirty 30 – People usually love this workout and I like it just fine. I think I would love any workout afte cardio fix though. I’m using the 10lb weights and it feels good.

Today’s Eats:

Breakfast

(1/2 green, 1 red, 1/2 blue, 1 tsp)

  • Scrambled eggs with shredded cheddar
  • Broccoli & mushrooms in coconut oil

+ a cup of coffee which I only drank half of. I don’t know what the deal with coffee and me is. I can’t drink a full cup in the morning, but that’s a good thing I suppose. Maybe I’ll have an iced coffee later for a little pick me up.

Lunch:

(1 yellow, 1 red)

  • Canned tuna
  • Black beans
  • Hot sauce

Right now I’m folding my second load of laundry and watching Jane the Virgin on Netflix. She’s planning a wedding and this wedding cake is really having an effect on me…mmmm tuna…

Snack:

(1 purple, 1 green)

  • Strawberry and spinach smoothie

That was the last thing I remember. I blacked out on the rest of the day…

Just kidding. So I went to a graduation party and there was a table of food. I could have made all great choices and I didn’t. I started off with a chicken wing and a glass of wine. Next thing I know there is a jello shot and a cracker with brown sugar and bacon in my hand. I thought, “Hey, it’s a celebration and my taste buds want to party!” Well party they did. Compared to yesterday this was definitely a cheat evening. System shocked. My tennis date just got cancelled for Sunday so I’ll fit in an extra workout somewhere in there…

It’s not the end of the world. Sometimes you’re going to eat things that aren’t the best for your body, and that’s fine. You’re creating a healthy lifestyle by eating right and exercising most of the time. If you’re doing the 21 day fix and you’re seeing results, those aren’t going to go away with a couple of slips. The only way they change is if you slip and fall and don’t get back up. It’s up to you to shake it off and get back to your routine. I used to beat myself up if I made unhealthy choices and now I shrug it off and move on. That’s what we should do with anything ugly that we cross on our paths. Shrug them off and move on. It does nothing for our well being to focus on negative energies. It’s up to us to turn the negative into a positive. So on Sunday I’m going to be proud of myself for kickstarting another healthy week. Let the meal prep begin!

21 Day Fix – Day 8

So this morning I got up and thought I’d weigh myself since it’s been one whole week. I haven’t lost a pound (insert blochy teary eyed face). I am not weighing myself anymore until the end. I know there isn’t anything wrong with me. I just had a check up at the Dr. and was issued an  A+ on my clean bill of health. No thyroid problems or anything. So I took a deep breath and said, “Jul, just stick to the program and it will all work out.”

My measurements haven’t changed either (for those of you wondering). Well I didn’t measure everything else today, just my arms, waist, and hips…but those didn’t change.

So, someone has a case of the Monday’s…

Today instead of being out and about I’ll be in front of my computer for the most part of the day on conference calls and customer calls. We have an awesome new line we are representing called Cinda B so that’s super exciting! If you haven’t watched my vlogs or read any of my other posts, I am a territory manager for a company called Just Got 2 Have It. We rep so many great brands that you see in your local boutiques. It is such a fun job. Not only is it great because of the line up of brands we have, but our rep group is amazing – the best team I’ve ever been a part of (it’s mostly women and I haven’t even seen one cat fight), and fabulous customers!

I was going to try to workout this morning but I didn’t have time and accidently slept until 7:15m. Hopefully I can fit something in between work and my improv class tonight. If not, it’s going to be a late one!

The Workout:

Total Body Cardio Fix

Not to be confused with Cardio Fix, but they both kick your butt. The surrenders, which are the very first exercise after the warm up are getting easier for me. They are super easy on my right leg, but my left leg still struggles. My right leg has always been my dominant leg and also measures bigger. I think they still look pretty symetrical though.Crap, I’ve never thought about it. What if every time I walk into a room, somebody’s like, “Oh there goes Julie Ann with her big right thigh. I bet if you fry that up it would taste just like chicken!”

Omg, I hope not. Haters gonna hate. I bet my thighs do taste like chicken and now they’re going from processed and fatty to free range lean mean organic machines!

Anway, I do need some heavier weights for the leg exercises so hopefully I’ll have some time to grab some this week.

Today’s Eats:

Breakfast:

(1 red, 1/2 green)

  • Scrambled eggs with hot sauce
  • Green beans

We had plenty of green beans leftover from last night so I’m probably going to have the rest for lunch or dinner

Snack:

(1/2 green)

  • Green Beans

…or maybe I had the rest for a snack. I had them cold and they were a great snack actually. I might just have to make them for snacks. They’re like veggie fries!

Lunch:

(1 red, 1 yellow, 1/2 blue)

  • 1 can of tuna
  • black beans
  • shredded white cheddar and hot sauce to top it off

Oh you know, just love that canned protien!

Snack:

(1 1/2 green, 1 purple)

  • Strawberry Spinich smoothie with 4 oz almond milk and water

This is the same thing I had yesterday without the carrots. Sooo goood and refreshing.

Dinner:

(1/2 green, 2 red, 1/2 blue)

  • Bun less sandwich?

I guess that’s what it was. I fit in my workout in just enough time to take a shower, get on another call for work, then grab something out of the fridge before heading to my improv class. You know what’s good about improv class? It helps you improvise! I had no plan for dinner so I grabbed a couple of romaine lettuce leaves, some turkey, and some hummus. I cracked an egg in the pan and flipped that right on top and devoured it. That’s why there’s no picture. It was eggcellent and the yolk almost dribbled on to my white shirt but I did a little dance move and it went on to the floor instead. Don’t worry, I cleaned it up!

What a crazy day of eats. This is how I don’t meal prep. Works for me though.

I’m just getting home and am ready for bed. I also just had (2tsp) some almond butter because I didn’t use my teaspoons today. It was a nice little treat.

Class was fun, but I was a bit tired and not on top of it. I love watching my classmates more than anything. It almost, not quite, but almost makes me want to direct.

Here is another lesson learned through improv:

Trust the process. It all comes together in the end.

Goodnight!

21 Day Fix – Day 5

It’s Fresh Friday! TGIF!

Before I hit the 21 day fix part of the post I just wanted to touch on a couple of things.

First, it’s my sisters birthday!! Happy birthday Kathleen. I love you!

Secondly, (this will be the only depressing part of this post) I wanted to wish peace to those that were close to a musical hero named Prince. He touched so many lives with his music and spirit and we will always be grateful for that. The most wonderful thing about an artist is that their spirit always lives on through their art. It’s never easy losing anyone because everyone has a huge impact on somebody else. God Bless everyone who is suffering from a loss of a loved one.

So with that said lets dive in to Friday!

Today I was visited by my lovely Aunt. She’s the only aunt that I really don’t care for. She just pops up out of the blue sometimes with her depressing attitude and that smirk that I just want to wipe right off of her face. She is the total opposite of a fairy Godmother. The affect that she has on me is entirely dreadful. “Oh Aunt Flo,” I always say, “when will you go?”Sometimes she sticks around for a whole week and it puts a damper on everything!

This time, yeahhh…this time I am  not going to let Flo interrupt my flow! I think she will get sick of my positive attitude and be gone before I even realize it.

I have an uncle who’s a historian named Rick who we call Historicktome. When I was a teenager I always hoped that he would visit and take Aunt Flo on home. (Ok maybe I went a little too far with that one)

So who’s feeling good today? I am! I’m a little worried about this weekend though because we are going camping. I think I’ll survive and I’m bringing my workout and containers with me. Below is my YouTube vlog covering my little plan to make it work!

Fresh Friday Fix Vlog

Today we focus on cardio. Let’s pump up the volume. Week one is almost over. Yay!

Today’s workout:

Cardio Fix – I don’t really have much to say about this workout except that it’s hard to love. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with it because I know it’s working every body part while keeping my heart rate up. If you haven’t tried it, this workout will have you sweating and breathing hard (in through the nose out through the mouth kind of hard of course) and I really wanted to rest more than the allowable time. However, I made my self jump in with both feet (sometimes literally, because you know…burpees) every single time. Whether you’re super fit or just beginning cardio fix kicks butt! I treat all these workouts as games, if you make it through the entire game than you’re a winner!

Today’s Eats:

Breakfast:

(1/2 purple, 1/2 green, 1 red)

  • 2 scrambled eggs
  • Leftover asparagus/mushroom mix
  • Strawberries/raspberries

I tried to make an omelet with yesterday’s left over veggies and it didn’t work out. It turned into more of a veggie scramble. The struggle is real!

Lunch:

(1 red, 1/3 blue, 1 yellow)

  • Baked chicken
  • Hummus
  • Black beans

Today’s lunch consisted of all leftovers. I cut up my chicken and used my hummus for a dip. Superb and easy to eat on the go!

Dinner:

So I was worried about dinner because I knew we would be eating out since we had to go to our campsite first and set up before the gates closed. I googled the nearest restaurant to our campground and found a gem that’s been around for 25 years. Before that it was a tackle shop. It’s called Matanza’s Inlett. They had a variety of food that I really wanted to eat like fried shrimp po’boys and crabdips but I went with some of the healthier choices. We did have to try the gator andouille sausage and of course steamed oysters as an appetizer so I’m so glad that I had some reds saved up for this meal!

(2 reds, 2 green -probably more like one but I’m counting it to be on the safe side, 1 yellow, 1 Orange, 1/2 blue)

  • gator andouille sausage
  • Steamed oysters with hot sauce
  • Blackened mahi salad with balsamic vinaigrette on the side (hardly had a bit of dressing, but counting a full orange because who knows what was in it + I had a few olives!) & shredded cheddar
  • 3/4 glass of house cab

So I feel like after using the containers I can make better estimates of what a portion should really look like. I had 5 oysters with just hot sauce and I thought I was really going to miss having it on a cracker but I really didn’t. I had half of my salad and packed up the other half for lunch tomorrow. I just need to remember to put it in the cooler! The andouille gator sausage were small bites and I had about 5 of those too. They were soooo good! See the pics below! My boyfriends basket of goodness is included and no I didn’t even steal a fry!

2016

As another New Years Eve celebration passes and I enter into the new year I can’t help to feel anything but grateful. To wake up another day with all that I have is truly a blessing. More than anything this year I want to continue to inspire, lead by example, and share my journey with you. As a lot of successful people say “If I can do it, anyone can.” I believe that we all have the strength within ourselves to make positive choices. When we feel like all life hands us are curveballs, we have to learn which bat to use and how to hit them. I also think that having faith in God and in yourself has a lot to do with making the right choices. If there is an absence of faith, then there is most likely fear…Fear of moving forward and fear of changing your comfort zone. If you don’t believe in all encompassing God, then find something to believe in!

Becoming a successful actor is my journey. It’s the path that I’ve chosen and that has chosen me. It’s not easy. Many people that aren’t in this industry don’t understand the work that goes into it. Instead of having a 9-5 job, I’m working on aspects of this career until my head hits the pillow while successfully juggling a day job that pays the bills. My day job is perfect because it gives me the opportunity to talk to numerous people every day. I learn about their wants and needs and a lot of customers I’ve become close with let me in on the incatracies of their lives beyond their businesses. I love learning about people. I love understanding people. I love helping people. I love people.

I find that as social media expands, more people are giving their opinions on everything and personal thoughts on why the world seems to be eating them alive! The world isn’t eating you alive, you’ve just chosen to be a victim. Bad things are going to happen, others are going to say awful things to intentionally hurt you, laws are going to be passed that you don’t agree with. That shouldn’t change your behavior and your outlook on life. The world is full of bullies. Social aspects of humanity haven’t changed much from grade school to adulthood. My mom always taught me to be kind and be the bigger person when dealing with someone else who was being mean or doing wrong. I still try to follow that advice. It’s not always easy, but you have to look at the bigger picture and focus on the areas where you can have the most impact. Instead of adding fuel to someone else’s fire, concentrate on your own. How are you going to change the color of your flames in 2016?

Be a good person, take action, and show us what you’re really made of! If you continue to do good deeds others will notice without you having to write about them. The world will treat you differently. I’m not sayin not to share, but dont do one act of kindness out of the ordinary and expect a pat on the back because of it. Make it ordinary. Kindness should be ordinary. Be kind to others, but most importantly be kind to yourself because it rubs off on everyone you touch!
