17 weeks old – Flashback

I wrote this a long time ago thinking that I’d have so much time to start blogging again. It’s nice to see where we were in comparison to where we are!

[Fade to Flashback]

I’m on a plane right now and am going to try to make the most of my time. It’s not very often that I get an hour or two of complete quiet. There’s no baby to answer to, no work email or calls to respond to (because I’m not paying for WiFi), no appointments to drive to, and no clothes to try to remember to throw into the dryer.

If you don’t follow me on Instagram then you probably don’t know that I had a baby 17 weeks ago. That’s a little over four months for you people that don’t already have children or don’t do math. Seventeen weeks ago my whole world changed. Everyone always said that you don’t completely understand what love is until you have a baby. Truth is, I always understood it, I just wasn’t ready for it. I still don’t know if I’m ready for it. I look at my baby girl and wonder how in the world I am lucky enough to be her mother for the rest of…forever. Some people say that the love you have for your child is greater than any other kind of love. I disagree, it’s just a different kind of love which I’ve wanted to experience since I was a little girl. Having a baby gives you a little glimpse into the way that God feels about each and every one of us.

It’s a love I know I’m ready for because it’s a love that’s changed me for good. I never knew how strong I was until I had a baby. I have a whole new respect for motherhood and my own mother.

And yes, sometimes I don’t know if I’m ready it. I never knew how weak I was until I had a baby. Hearing her cry makes me cry. When she hurts, I hurt. However even through that weakness there is strength because I have to be strong for her.

Four months in and I’ve learned that:

◦ Sleep is a necessity, but only in 10-60 minute increments.

◦ Giving birth is exactly like it is in the movies, but with more tears, convulsing, and shaking.

◦ I will always need my mother.

◦ My husband has seen me at my worst and still adores me. 👏👏👏😍

◦ Part of me is living outside of me. She is an extension of me that I need to nourish just like I nourish my own body and self.

◦ The laundry will never be done and the house will never be clean.

◦ I have the best family and in-laws EVER.

◦ No diaper is too scary.

◦ Breast milk is a precious thing (I learned this the very first time I spilled it after pumping).

◦ No noise is too small to wake me when I’m finally asleep.

◦ I am needed and loved and have a purpose.

This journey has already been wonderful and as they say, the moments go by so fast. I am enjoying every one of them. This past week my daughter has been up at all hours, and every time I pick her up to console her I truly thank God that she is breathing and that I am here for her no matter how tired I am. Some babies aren’t as lucky which is hard for me to even grasp. I’ve never been so grateful.

Cosette Isabela Maszy was born on June 8th of 2018. She weighed in at 4 pounds, 14 ounces! She was two weeks early (full term) but just on the tiny side. She has since tripled her weight and is thriving and beautiful.

As you can probably already tell, FitFabDelish will have a new category because my world now revolves around it. More to come in MomSoHard- reviews, things I’m learning along the way, and maybe some love notes that she can look back on. Haha, we’ll see where it takes me!

You can follow Cosette (or Coco as we like to call her) on Instagram @cosetteisabela .

She’s already a bit of an influencer!

Stay tuned as I definitely always have material now!

3 Day Refresh – Day 3 + Results!

I know I know, you’ve been waiting to see how Day 3 went and I haven’t posted!! I just wanted to keep you on the edge of your seats, that’s all.

Or…maybe I’m just hoping that you’ve been waiting anxiously…Either way here goes!

First of all I have to say that this cleanse has been fantastic. On Day 3 I was starting to crave foods that weren’t allowed on the cleanse – proteins for the most part, but it still wasn’t hard to pass up what my boyfriend was eating while I drank a shake and ate veggies.

Day 3 eats:

  • Breakfast: Chocolate Vegan Shakeology & half a banana. I decided to have these separately instead of blended together and it made me feel like I had more to eat.
  • Fiber Sweep – again with extra lemon juice. Everyone in our accountability group seemed to like the taste of this and I did too, but you still want to make sure to drink it pretty quickly so you don’t have any clumps.
  • Lunch: I had my vanilla fresh with strawberries (and had a few strawberries left over to eat) as well as two medium celery sticks with hummus. I loooove hummus!
  • Afternoon snack: I sauteed spinach in coconut oil and it was a super-good super-food!! I also made decaffeinated green tea and it was a nice little bonus.
  • Dinner: I had vanilla fresh again and added cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger to it. Vanilla fresh does kind of get old through the process, but this combo definitely made it better. I also made the cucumber tomato recipe that is provided in the 3 day refresh booklet and it was great. The serving was actually more than I needed and I was full halfway through, but I ate it all because I felt like I needed to stick to the cleanse to a T.

They say not to exert yourself too much during the refresh, but I’ve gotten so used to working out that I just had to. I did the Beachbody 21 day extreme leg workout and it was intense but not overly. I love this workout, but then again, I love working my legs. I think this also helped burn some extra calories and my legs were definitely a little sore on day 4.

Results:

I was so looking forward to waking up in the morning to see my results that I didn’t sleep very well. I measured myself and lost 1″ around my waist, 1″ around my hips, and 1/4″ around both of my thighs which amounts to 2.5″ in all!! I lost a pound (I have trouble losing weight, but I think that also has to do with building muscle) and I am very happy with the results!! I feel so good from the inside out and will hopefully maintain these results through the next 21 day round.

I think I will definitely do this again, probably after the July 4th holiday, so if you want to jump on board and try it, let me know!!!

21 Day Fix – Day 21

I just want to start by wishing all of my mama readers a very happy Mother’s Day! Ihope, even if your children aren’t with you, that you are being celebrated. I believe children learn the most from their parents, and moms in particular, are a guiding light. I’ve learned all of life’s most important lessons from my mom and she’s the best example of the type of person I want to be. She never speaks negatively of anyone except for this one guy on a commercial that comes on all of the time (Who knows how he got cast). She always looks at things objectively, she gives more than she receives, she forgives, loves wholly, helps those who have less and those who have more, and treats everyone as equals. She’s understanding, she listens, she smiles at strangers because she wants them to smile, she’s empathetic, kind, smart, beautiful, strong, resilient, and wishes the best for everyone. She never gives up on me when I feel like giving up on myself and that’s what makes me keep going at the end of the day. I have no idea how I got so extremely lucky. I could say all of the same for my dad (but it’s Mother’s Day!). In my opinion both of my parents are as close to perfect as you can possibly be. Mother’s you are your child’s blessing, just as they are yours.Through my mother I see, and I know Gods love. If I become a mother I hope I can somehow compare. Thank you mom!!

Yesterday was so fun and busy that I was too exhausted to blog last night. You didn’t miss much though. The day started off pretty well with my workout and healthy breakfast but moving on from there it all went downhill. I’m not upset about it though. I knew what my choices were and I knew I was going to have to make up for it afterwards.

My boyfriend and I hung out with my parents all weekend and went to the Blind Willie Blues Festival in Thomson, GA. I’ll be posting a video of it on my TownieGirl YouTube channel, so if you’re interested please subscribe and you’ll get an update when I post it this week. It was a lot of fun! It’s such a great annual event and this is the second time we have been. I highly recommend it! I had a few beers and snacked on treats pretty much all day. When we went for dinner I got a perfect juicy hamburger and I enjoyed every bit of it. My belly wasn’t really thanking me, but my tastebuds were.

Today I woke up and ate some fruit then took my boyfriend to the airport. I’m still out of town so checked in to a hotel, got some healthy groceries, and got my yoga in. Plus I did one of the workouts from the 22 minute hardcore series. It worked me! This is the last day of the 21 day fix for me and I’ll be posting my results on Tuesday when I’m finally home and have access to the tape measure. That doesn’t mean I’m stopping. I’m starting over again tomorrow! This week I’m going to learn more about what it takes to be a coach so you’ll get new updates on that as well. Please let me know if you’d like to join any challenges and I’ll update you when I’m close starting a new one so you can jump on board.
