Let That $h!t Go

So much to do, so little time. That saying is so true and I know we all feel it. Summer has faded into Fall, despite what the temperature may feel like in your area. Here in Jacksonville it’s still hot as a mother (oh wait, I’m a mother! Ha, I am too kind!). Since my job revolves around looking forward and sharing new trends, it makes time go by way too fast. It’s October already and the Christmas scented candles are already selling like crazy! My daughter is about to be 16 months old and with every milestone I feel like she is getting closer and closer to having her own family. Ok, that may be a bit far off, but still time flies.

My goal every day and my prayer every night is that we live in the moment. Of course I pray for a bright and healthy future for us and our world, but the moments are so much more dear. I get caught up in what could be and what will be that I tend to forget about the present. I forget that my squirmy little girl’s tantrums are something to absolutely adore because she is living loud and feeling and learning and growing. I forget that my car breaking down gives me a chance to practice patience and not be all “woe is me.” It’s the universe giving me a lesson in basic math by problem solving and figuring out a work around for my life. I let my reflexive thoughts get the best of me when something doesn’t go the way I planned instead of being thoughtful and selfless. I forget that the future just might not be.

What I notice around me is that most other people do the same thing. The more social our network is, we see more people in our network suffering. Suffering from depression, health complications, grief, anxiety, being over worked, lonely, too busy or too social and putting important things aside, or even acting like none of this exists and pretending everything is perfection. I also notice that a lot of people just want to laugh to take away some of this suffering.

My husband says I’m addicted to my phone and he’s probably right. I play mindless games when I’m not motivated to read at night or get extra work done or blog like I am now. I check my email constantly. I scroll through Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn just to see what everyone’s up to and to make sure I’m not missing out – on what? What could I possibly be missing out on that’s not right here in front of me?

You want to know what would take away some of the suffering? Self care. Whether it be talking to a therapist or life coach or following your own advice that you often give to others. Maybe, going for a drive and stopping in somewhere you haven’t been for a cup of coffee. How about closing your eyes and breathing in and out deeply for just 5 minutes? Giving someone a compliment or even a hug – chances are you both need it. Take some time for yourself and give your time to others, most importantly your close friends and family. We are given a very brief time on this earth.

Its so hard to be thoughtful about each moment because our lives are happening and we are constantly being interrupted by one thing or another. It’s up to us to shut those interruptions out and not let them get in the way of what is important. Shut the door in interruption’s face and don’t feel bad about it. Interruption does have a way of pulling you towards it so make a conscious effort to go the other way and use your energy for the good of your life instead. We have so many things in our lives that we don’t need and they add zero value. It’s like Marie Kondo says in her book the life-changing magic of tidying up, “does it bring you joy?”

Apply that same thought to non- material things that surround you. Anything that doesn’t bring you joy, let that $h!t go.

Can you pick five things off of the top of your head that you know you would be better off letting go? I can think of more than that.

NO DAY BUT TODAY

Yes, the title of this post is taken from a song in one of my favorite musicals RENT! RENT deals with a group of people, who despite their circumstances, rise above so much and realize that every moment counts. It’s about love and loss, moving on and finding out that in order to improve your circumstances you have to adapt to change and fight for what’s right, for those you love, and for yourself.

So much of our fight is inner dialogue that other can’t see on the outside. Lately I’ve been so overwhelmed because I have so much to do. Instead of picking a task and conquering it, I wallow in my own thoughts and get upset because I don’t know what the first step is in tackling a job or making one thing a priority over any other. I mean, I still have my Christmas Tree up and it’s February. I go from “well, ugh-maybe I should just leave it up for the rest of the year,” and all of these other passive aggressive inner thoughts when in reality I just need to stop what I am doing and start removing ornaments!

Last year a friend recommended a time scheduling app called Be Focused. I downloaded it onto my computer and it was a game changer. I used it religiously for a while and then started to get the hang of the timing on my own (or so I thought) so eventually stopped. Well, one tiny little break led to multiple unscheduled breaks and I completely lost my FOCUS! I’ve decided that I better get back on track and start using the app again because I know that it helps me to concentrate on one task at a time. Check it out if you are constantly checking social media at work (unless that is your work), taking a break to play candy crush, or just zoning out!

I find that routine truly helps my stress level and my productivity. I normally navigate through my week trying to multitask. Getting everything done that I need to get done seems nearly impossible. Since I work from home and mostly from my car, I have to adapt to change pretty much daily. I work by appointment so normally I know when I’ll have a break, but I have to be very conscious of what I do during that break so I don’t waste valuable time. I understand, now more than ever, that time is so important because the seconds go by so fast. I was always taught to anticipate other’s needs. Well sister, I have to start anticipating my own needs in order to keep a positive outlook and not become overwhelmed.

This weekend, my plan is to enjoy the time I have with my family, but I am also going to remove some of the chaos from my life by trying to map out a routine for my week to come.

Today, I am taking down the damn Christmas tree!

Being overwhelmed and stressed isn’t good for me, but it isn’t good for anyone around me either. A healthy lifestyle isn’t just about eating healthy foods and being active, it’s mostly about being happy (which those things definitely help in the happy department). I have to remind myself that in the grand scheme of things, everything we worry about is so very minute. So if you feel like your life is a shitshow, OWN it or take the steps to IMPROVE it. I think I’ll do both!

ÔĽŅHow to find your brand

As an actress, more than half of the job has to do with business and not talent. Lately I’ve been learning how to manage my business and market my brand. When I started thinking more and more about this, I decided that I would start incorporating my new practices into FitFabDelish. I have a day job and I manage that business just fine. I have built relationships and I work with some of the same customers over and over again while gaining new customers. There is no difference between that business and my independent businesses.

I created fitfabdelish for three reasons, all of which are in the name.

  • Fitness & Health
  • Fashion & Cool Products
  • Food & Drink

These three things are all things that I care about and have ALWAYS cared about! However, the true core of these three things is taking care of yourself in order to be a happier, healthier you. That’s my essence, not the three categories that I focus on. To create your blog and create your brand, you have to find something that you are passionate about and that you have fun talking about all of the time. Find something that’s FUN for you and you’ll find your niche. Fashion is huge right now, but if you enjoy reading books and going to cool local bookshops and coffee shops on the weekend instead of window shopping and retail, then fashion isn’t for you. It will get old and become hard to come up with content. The other part is all about figuring out your WHY. WHY do you want to teach people about these bookstores or introduce them to the new novels your reading. WHY do you want others to know about this unique lifestyle that you lead?

What is your essence?

What makes you YOU? Why are you unique? Essence isn’t your experiences, it’s more about your expression or how you handle your experiences.

Have you ever asked a stranger what their first impression is of you? People still judge books by their cover, which means they are judging you that way too. We judge each other by what we’re wearing, whether we’re smiling or not, whether we pull out a fancy wallet from our bag at the grocery store, or whether we have a funky paper change purse to hold all of our valuables. People judge us by how we respond when someone asks, “How are you?” People also judge us  when we walk in front of another’s moving car in the parking lot. Do you wave to say thank you, or in apology? Do you walk with conviction and authority or move in embarrassed haste? There are so many questions.

Have you ever ran into someone that tells you what color your aura is? I’ve had three different people tell me that I have a blue aura and I really don’t know what that means, but I know they tell me that because they noticed something about me right away. That was them noticing my essence right off that bat.

Finding your brand has everything to do with finding your true essence. Find your passion and make it work for you. We all have something unique about ourselves. You may not even have a clue as to what it is. Ask ten people what they find special about you and I’ll bet you’ll get a similar answer most of the time. Take those special things and use them. It’s much easier to work with what we already have at hand, than trying to reinvent ourselves with what we think othwers will deem cool.

You are your brand. Embrace it and the rest will come!

Lucky Feather

This week I am going to tell you all about Lucky Feather. No, I’m not talking about a bird feather that’s meant to be a token of luck like a rabbit’s foot (which is kind of gross when you think about it. What if a rabbit was carrying around a human foot because he thought it was meant to bring him luck? Eww). I’m talking about a jewelry line!

Lucky Feather is the cutest jewelry and gift line filled with good energy and inspiration! This year marks the 10th anniversary of the brand, and what better time to talk about it than now, when they are in boutiques and gifts shops everywhere and spreading their beauty across the world. Every season, the lovely ladies at Lucky Feather design new pieces that are accommodating to all of the new fashion trends. Following the emoji addictions of the millennial generation and the huge audience of icon fanatics, each piece of jewelry accessorizes any outfit gorgeously.

Not only are they trendy and chic, but they are also inspirational. Many of the jewelry pieces come carded with beautiful words meant to inspire, show appreciation, give love, and so on. Other pieces have the words engraved right on them. I have a couple of examples of my favorites below.

One of the best things about this line is that it’s similar to a greeting card line, in that there is something for every occasion. Whether you are looking for something for a young lady on her birthday, a bridesmaid’s gift, a mother’s day moment, or a special memento “just because,” then you will be able to find it here. Oh yes, and there are even presents for your posh pets!

What makes this line so special is the women behind it. One of the reasons I pick some of the brands I talk about, is because I’m given the opportunity to meet the people who bring those brands alive. These ladies are changing the world, once piece of jewelry and a smile at a time. They are humble, loving, giving, and Lucky Feather is a true representation of who they are. Do yourself a favor and give someone the gift of Lucky Feather today! Click on the link above so you can browse all of these perfectly pretty pieces!

Lets make Hummus!!!

So I joined Costco about 5 months ago and I bought a casepack of chickpeas with the idea of making so much hummus my fridge would always be full! Hummus is one of my go-to healthy snacks and I’d heard from so many people that it’s super easy to make. Well, when I bought my chickpeas I had no idea that I needed Tahini sauce. 5 months later, I finally remembered to grab some tahini at the grocery!

I was also worried about taking the hummus plunge because I don’t own a food processor (if anyone wants me to try their brand send me one and I’ll tell everyone how great it is. Wink winkūüėČ).

Worry schmurry! This morning I broke out the blender and it worked like a charm. I figured if I can make my shakeology smoothies with that bad boy, then if anything I’ll be drinking a glass of healthy fat, protien packed hummus!

I’ll admit that using a food processor is probably much easier, but just because I didn’t have the right tool didn’t mean I couldn’t get the job done. Now that’s a life lesson!

Recipe:

  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)
  • 1 19 oz can chickpeas
  • 1/8th cup of crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 tsp Himalayan pink sea salt

In food processor (or blender in my case) mix lemon juice and tahini until well blended. You may need to scrape the sides and mix with a spoon and pulse several times to mix well.

Add olive oil to the blender and mix/stir again. Once you have a creamier consistency, add 1/2 of the chickpeas and blend again. Add the remainder of the chickpeas along with feta and salt and continue to mix until well blended. If the texture isn’t as creamy as you would like, add a tbsp of water at a time while blending until it’s to your liking.

*Since I was using a blender I was a little worried about getting it creamy enough. I removed the skins from the chickpeas just in case. You don’t necessarily have to do this.

This made twice as much hummus as most of the store bough containers and I can’t wait to break out my carrot sticks and cucumbers for a healthy snack this afternoon!

Miami Days

This week I have a conference with one of my favorite vendors, Tweezerman (which I’ll be doing a separate blog on later). I decided to come down to Miami beforehand because my best friend lives down here and we needed some girl time. Miami has so much to offer, and while living here wouldn’t be for me, I love visiting! I wanted to show you guys a couple of my favorite moments while down here. If you’re ever in the area, you might want to check out one of these options!

FIT

I got in Friday afternoon, so was really excited for a long, fun in the sun weekend. A few years ago I went on a NYE trip with my bestie Karissa and I got my PADI Open Water Diving certification. I’ve been wanting to dive so bad ever since but I don’t have any close friends where I live that are certified so haven’t made it a priority. Since I was visiting and she hadn’t been diving in Miami yet, she asked if I would be interested and I said YES!¬†It turned out to be pretty overcast all weekend, but that wasn’t going to stop us.¬†Her friend Angela had just gotten certified too and has been on several dives since doing so, and she joined us.

We went to¬†Tarpoon Lagoon¬†dive shop and they set us all up. It was $125 and that included all of our gear (wetsuit, two tanks, bcd, weights, mask, fins, etc). We also paid a little extra so an instructor could take us, which I was glad for since I hadn’t been in a while. I was actually a little nervous, but knew that once I put everything on and got in the water the first time that everything would come back to me and be just perfect.

We went on two dives. The first was Neptune Memorial Reef which was 45 feet deep. It is an artificial reef that resembles Atlantis. It’s also one of the largest manmade reefs ever created, which made it unique and made me want to sing Little Mermaid songs. There were small plaques with sentiments written on them and some were quite quirky.

The second site we dove was Billy’s Barge, which is a 50 foot dive. It was a pretty close drive from the Neptune dive site. It was better than the first dive in my opinion because the site was a little larger (or so it seemed), plus we were able to go through part of the barge which was kind of cool. The coolest thing I saw here was a black and white stingray and I wish I had a picture to show you! This site was quite colorful with all of the beautiful sea life.

For anyone interested in diving here, I have one suggestion. If you are on vacation try to go during the week. During the weekend there are more divers and snorkelers going out and it can get crowded. I found myself kicking others in the face often. Otherwise, just try to keep your distance and don’t follow too closely. It may aggravate the person in front of you!

FAB

On Sundays, we do brunch and we’ll get to the heart of that in the Delish segment. Brunch doesn’t just consist of eating and the large possibility of¬†drinking. It also consists of window shopping and maybe actual shopping if stores are open on Sunday. After our brunch and between hip hang out spots, we walked by this little shop in Southbeach on Alton Rd. called¬†Sparkle and Shine Darling¬†and boyyy (I mean gurrrl) was it cute! They not only had great gifts, but there was a great representation of lines from Just Got 2 Have It (the showroom¬†that I rep for) which I was really excited to see. This store had everything from sleeping masks, graphic tees, and stationary items to baby gifts, puppy presents, and Father’s Day finds! I wanted everything!

Clockwise from top left corner: Pinch Me Emergency Kits, TokyoMilk Dark New body souffles, Lucky Feather Necklaces, Fred& Friends cake topper candelabra, & Bling Sting Pepper Sprays & Ahh!-larms.

DELISH

If you’ve been to Miami, you know there are tons of great places to eat and new hot spots opening up all of the time. Luckily for me, my friends know where the best places are to dine, drink, and dish on the hot topics from their daily lives. We decided to have a girls day out and pick one of these hot spots for a bottomless brunch. My girlfriends (some old and some new) and I¬†got dolled up and had a rooftop rendezvous at¬†Juvia Miami on Lincoln Rd. This restaurant is drop dead gorgeous with a breathtaking view of Miami. I can see how the day and night time views must both be spectacular. The below photo doesn’t even give it justice!

We had the option of sitting inside or outside and since I was the guest for the weekend I got to choose, and I definitely chose outside. It wasn’t too hot and there was a nice breeze which added to the experience. The aesthetics of the restaurant were plush and inviting, providing luxury and elegance at an affordable price. The service was wonderful as well and matched the setting. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and the manager made our experience even better by being flexible with our needs.

img_0656
They come out with a new menu weekly featuring new fare from what I understand, and they do keep some of the guest favorites available. There is a prix fixed menu from which we all chose, but there was also an option to order bento boxes and other main entrees. We also each chose from their bottomless brunch option and drinking ensued. From the bottomless brunch we were able to order a¬†Mimosa, Prosecco, Bloody Mary, White Pear Sangria, or a Bellini. I think there was one more option that I’m forgetting. Below are images from the 3 course meal I chose as well as images¬†from other dishes that were served.

If you want to give this delish dining spot a try, I definitely suggest going for lunch because the prices are great. For the prix-fixed 3 course meal, the charge was $24.00 and for the bottomless brunch beverages the price was only $23.00. In Miami, especially at a hot spot like this, it is difficult to find such deal. I am giving Juvia a big thumbs up and will definitely cheers to that!

Overall, my trip to Miami was fantastic. Next time I’ll hope for sunnier weather and take advantage of the beach. Until then, Ciao Miami!

3 Day Refresh – Day 3 + Results!

I know I know, you’ve been waiting to see how Day 3 went and I haven’t posted!! I just wanted to keep you on the edge of your seats, that’s all.

Or…maybe I’m just hoping that you’ve been waiting anxiously…Either way here goes!

First of all I have to say that this cleanse has been fantastic. On Day 3 I was starting to crave foods that weren’t allowed on the cleanse – proteins for the most part, but it still wasn’t hard to pass up what my boyfriend was eating while I drank a shake and ate veggies.

Day 3 eats:

  • Breakfast: Chocolate Vegan Shakeology & half a banana. I decided to have these separately instead of blended together and it made me feel like I had more to eat.
  • Fiber Sweep – again with extra lemon juice. Everyone in our accountability group seemed to like the taste of this and I did too, but you still want to make sure to drink it pretty quickly so you don’t have any clumps.
  • Lunch: I had my vanilla fresh with strawberries (and had a few strawberries left over to eat) as well as two medium celery sticks with hummus. I loooove hummus!
  • Afternoon snack: I sauteed spinach in coconut oil and it was a super-good super-food!! I also made decaffeinated green tea and it was a nice little bonus.
  • Dinner: I had vanilla fresh again and added cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger to it. Vanilla fresh does kind of get old through the process, but this combo definitely made it better. I also made the cucumber tomato recipe that is provided in the 3 day refresh booklet and it was great. The serving was actually more than I needed and I was full halfway through, but I ate it all because I felt like I needed to stick to the cleanse to a T.

They say not to exert yourself too much during the refresh, but I’ve gotten so used to working out that I just had to. I did the Beachbody 21 day extreme leg workout and it was intense but not overly. I love this workout, but then again, I love working my legs. I think this also helped burn some extra calories and my legs were definitely a little sore on day 4.

Results:

I was so looking forward to waking up in the morning to see my results that I didn’t sleep very well. I measured myself and lost 1″ around my waist, 1″ around my hips, and 1/4″ around both of my thighs which amounts to 2.5″ in all!! I lost a pound (I have trouble losing weight, but I think that also has to do with building muscle) and I am very happy with the results!! I feel so good from the inside out and will hopefully maintain these results through the next 21 day round.

I think I will definitely do this again, probably after the July 4th holiday, so if you want to jump on board and try it, let me know!!!

21 Day Fix – Day 10

Day ten and we are basically halfway through the fix. I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling good (even if you aren’t doing it with me and you’re feeling good for me, that works too). The only thing that I’m not getting enough of is sleep, mostly because of this blog since I have to finish it after dinner. I’m sure I am technically getting enough, I just like to sleep more than most people. I could sleep a week straight if I wanted to and I can fall asleep anywhere and sleep through anything. Maybe it’s because my dreams are magical, but I think it’s mostly because being horizontal just feels so good. This is especially true when you’re surrounded by feathers. I obviously don’t have much to say today, so let’s dive in to the daily workout and eats.

Today’s Workout:

Lower Fix –

I stopped by Wal-Mart when I was out today and picked up some weights. I was looking for 12lb free weights but they didn’t have any. I knew 15 would be a little much, especially for upper fix so I just got 10lbs. I’m not sure if they will make much of a difference, but we shall see. I also bought a heavy resistance band so I could try that out. I figured it would be great for traveling too!

Leg day felt good, but I feel like I could have pushed it a little more and would have had a better workout with 12lb weights. I say that now that it’s over with; I may not have said that while I was in the midst of it. I’m hoping I will feel sore tomorrow. I’m not saying it was easy, I’m just saying that I think I can be tougher! Pilates is tomorrow so I may try to find time to do a double workout and get in some more strength training tomorrow.

Today’s Eats:

Breakfast:

(1/2 blue, 1 1/2 red)

  • Scrambled eggs with shredded cheddar
  • Turkey Sausage

So I bought this turkey sausage like a week ago and have yet to make it because I haven’t really felt like eating it. I just went to the store a couple of days ago and bought this other sausage that my boyfriend really likes. When I was making that for him this morning I deceided to try the turkey sausage and you know what? I just isn’t the same. I love sausages and maybe that sounds gross, but I don’t care. I’ll shout it from the rooftops, because it’s true! I made two patties and ate 1 1/4th. I think I’ll put rest in a turkey meatza or turkey meatloaf later on this week. Sausage Fail.

Snack:

(1/2 blue, 1/2 red)

  • Chicken & hummus

I brought leftover fajita mix from last night for lunch today and had some extra chicken for the hummus I’ve been craving. Good little snack to get me through until lunch. Gotta get that, gotta get that Pro-tein!

Lunch:

(1 yellow, 1 red)

  • Leftover fajita mix
  • black beans

For lunch I just packed leftovers from last night (which I already told you). A yellow scoop of blackbeans and a Red scoop of fajita mix. I didn’t seperate the veggies out from the chicken to measure, but it was mostly chicken so that’s what I’m counting. It was yummy cold too!

Snack:

(2 green, 1 red)

  • Strawberry, Spinach, Carrot Smoothie with almond milk

I found out that if you go to a juice bar you can order anything you want. I mean they have all the ingredients so why not ask? Tasted just like the one I make at home. I get weird looks wherever I go, so I’m used to it. You may not be. It kind of helps to be an actor, because sometimes you just find yourself experimenting on people.

Dinner:

(1 red, 1 yellow, 1 green, 2 tsp)

  • Tuna filet
  • Broccoli & mushrooms
  • Black beans

Dinner tonight was so yummy. It fulfilled all of my cravings even though I stuffed it down my throat in order to make a meeting with fellow actors tonight. Our meetings usually don’t get over until late so I wanted to make sure I ate beforehand and not after. Instead of using coconut oil tonight, I wanted a different flavor so I used ghee (a paleo friendly ingredient) which I love. It is clarified butter and used in a lot of Asian recipes. I also had two tsp of almond butter when I got back from my meeting, which ended earlier than usual due to lack of attendance.  I didn’t like almond butter at first, but I have to say, it really makes me happy now!

Now I’m about to edit a little vlog for Friday. When it comes to fixin, Day 10 is done! You go girl!

21 Day Fix – Day 8

So this morning I got up and thought I’d weigh myself since it’s been one whole week. I haven’t lost a pound (insert blochy teary eyed face). I am not weighing myself anymore until the end. I know there isn’t anything wrong with me. I just had a check up at the Dr. and was issued an  A+ on my clean bill of health. No thyroid problems or anything. So I took a deep breath and said, “Jul, just stick to the program and it will all work out.”

My measurements haven’t changed either (for those of you wondering). Well I didn’t measure everything else today, just my arms, waist, and hips…but those didn’t change.

So, someone has a case of the Monday’s…

Today instead of being out and about I’ll be in front of my computer for the most part of the day on conference calls and customer calls. We have an awesome new line we are representing called Cinda B so that’s super exciting! If you haven’t watched my vlogs or read any of my other posts, I am a territory manager for a company called Just Got 2 Have It. We rep so many great brands that you see in your local boutiques. It is such a fun job. Not only is it great because of the line up of brands we have, but our rep group is amazing – the best team I’ve ever been a part of (it’s mostly women and I haven’t even seen one cat fight), and fabulous customers!

I was going to try to workout this morning but I didn’t have time and accidently slept until 7:15m. Hopefully I can fit something in between work and my improv class tonight. If not, it’s going to be a late one!

The Workout:

Total Body Cardio Fix

Not to be confused with Cardio Fix, but they both kick your butt. The surrenders, which are the very first exercise after the warm up are getting easier for me. They are super easy on my right leg, but my left leg still struggles. My right leg has always been my dominant leg and also measures bigger. I think they still look pretty symetrical though.Crap, I’ve never thought about it. What if every time I walk into a room, somebody’s like, “Oh there goes Julie Ann with her big right thigh. I bet if you fry that up it would taste just like chicken!”

Omg, I hope not. Haters gonna hate. I bet my thighs do taste like chicken and now they’re going from processed and fatty to free range lean mean organic machines!

Anway, I do need some heavier weights for the leg exercises so hopefully I’ll have some time to grab some this week.

Today’s Eats:

Breakfast:

(1 red, 1/2 green)

  • Scrambled eggs with hot sauce
  • Green beans

We had plenty of green beans leftover from last night so I’m probably going to have the rest for lunch or dinner

Snack:

(1/2 green)

  • Green Beans

…or maybe I had the rest for a snack. I had them cold and they were a great snack actually. I might just have to make them for snacks. They’re like veggie fries!

Lunch:

(1 red, 1 yellow, 1/2 blue)

  • 1 can of tuna
  • black beans
  • shredded white cheddar and hot sauce to top it off

Oh you know, just love that canned protien!

Snack:

(1 1/2 green, 1 purple)

  • Strawberry Spinich smoothie with 4 oz almond milk and water

This is the same thing I had yesterday without the carrots. Sooo goood and refreshing.

Dinner:

(1/2 green, 2 red, 1/2 blue)

  • Bun less sandwich?

I guess that’s what it was. I fit in my workout in just enough time to take a shower, get on another call for work, then grab something out of the fridge before heading to my improv class. You know what’s good about improv class? It helps you improvise! I had no plan for dinner so I grabbed a couple of romaine lettuce leaves, some turkey, and some hummus. I cracked an egg in the pan and flipped that right on top and devoured it. That’s why there’s no picture. It was eggcellent and the yolk almost dribbled on to my white shirt but I did a little dance move and it went on to the floor instead. Don’t worry, I cleaned it up!

What a crazy day of eats. This is how I don’t meal prep. Works for me though.

I’m just getting home and am ready for bed. I also just had (2tsp) some almond butter because I didn’t use my teaspoons today. It was a nice little treat.

Class was fun, but I was a bit tired and not on top of it. I love watching my classmates more than anything. It almost, not quite, but almost makes me want to direct.

Here is another lesson learned through improv:

Trust the process. It all comes together in the end.

Goodnight!

21 Day Fix – Day 5

It’s Fresh Friday! TGIF!

Before I hit the 21 day fix part of the post I just wanted to touch on a couple of things.

First, it’s my sisters birthday!! Happy birthday Kathleen. I love you!

Secondly, (this will be the only depressing part of this post) I wanted to wish peace to those that were close to a musical hero named Prince. He touched so many lives with his music and spirit and we will always be grateful for that. The most wonderful thing about an artist is that their spirit always lives on through their art. It’s never easy losing anyone because everyone has a huge impact on somebody else. God Bless everyone who is suffering from a loss of a loved one.

So with that said lets dive in to Friday!

Today I was visited by my lovely Aunt. She’s the only aunt that I really don’t care for. She just pops up out of the blue sometimes with her depressing attitude and that smirk that I just want to wipe right off of her face. She is the total opposite of a fairy Godmother. The affect that she has on me is entirely dreadful. “Oh Aunt Flo,” I always say, “when will you go?”Sometimes she sticks around for a whole week and it puts a damper on everything!

This time, yeahhh…this time I am  not going to let Flo interrupt my flow! I think she will get sick of my positive attitude and be gone before I even realize it.

I have an uncle who’s a historian named Rick who we call Historicktome. When I was a teenager I always hoped that he would visit and take Aunt Flo on home. (Ok maybe I went a little too far with that one)

So who’s feeling good today? I am! I’m a little worried about this weekend though because we are going camping. I think I’ll survive and I’m bringing my workout and containers with me. Below is my YouTube vlog covering my little plan to make it work!

Fresh Friday Fix Vlog

Today we focus on cardio. Let’s pump up the volume. Week one is almost over. Yay!

Today’s workout:

Cardio Fix – I don’t really have much to say about this workout except that it’s hard to love. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with it because I know it’s working every body part while keeping my heart rate up. If you haven’t tried it, this workout will have you sweating and breathing hard (in through the nose out through the mouth kind of hard of course) and I really wanted to rest more than the allowable time. However, I made my self jump in with both feet (sometimes literally, because you know…burpees) every single time. Whether you’re super fit or just beginning cardio fix kicks butt! I treat all these workouts as games, if you make it through the entire game than you’re a winner!

Today’s Eats:

Breakfast:

(1/2 purple, 1/2 green, 1 red)

  • 2 scrambled eggs
  • Leftover asparagus/mushroom mix
  • Strawberries/raspberries

I tried to make an omelet with yesterday’s left over veggies and it didn’t work out. It turned into more of a veggie scramble. The struggle is real!

Lunch:

(1 red, 1/3 blue, 1 yellow)

  • Baked chicken
  • Hummus
  • Black beans

Today’s lunch consisted of all leftovers. I cut up my chicken and used my hummus for a dip. Superb and easy to eat on the go!

Dinner:

So I was worried about dinner because I knew we would be eating out since we had to go to our campsite first and set up before the gates closed. I googled the nearest restaurant to our campground and found a gem that’s been around for 25 years. Before that it was a tackle shop. It’s called Matanza’s Inlett. They had a variety of food that I really wanted to eat like fried shrimp po’boys and crabdips but I went with some of the healthier choices. We did have to try the gator andouille sausage and of course steamed oysters as an appetizer so I’m so glad that I had some reds saved up for this meal!

(2 reds, 2 green -probably more like one but I’m counting it to be on the safe side, 1 yellow, 1 Orange, 1/2 blue)

  • gator andouille sausage
  • Steamed oysters with hot sauce
  • Blackened mahi salad with balsamic vinaigrette on the side (hardly had a bit of dressing, but counting a full orange because who knows what was in it + I had a few olives!) & shredded cheddar
  • 3/4 glass of house cab

So I feel like after using the containers I can make better estimates of what a portion should really look like. I had 5 oysters with just hot sauce and I thought I was really going to miss having it on a cracker but I really didn’t. I had half of my salad and packed up the other half for lunch tomorrow. I just need to remember to put it in the cooler! The andouille gator sausage were small bites and I had about 5 of those too. They were soooo good! See the pics below! My boyfriends basket of goodness is included and no I didn’t even steal a fry!
